Assignment 2: Understanding Vocational Theories (10%)

Due Date: Thursday, October 28 before 2:00 PM.

Purpose of Assignment

Each student has to submit a five-paragraph written report in which he demonstrates his understanding of the following vocational theories: Bandura’s, Parsons’, and Holland’s.

Requirements

I. The report must be in your own authorship and should utilize 2–3 references from which you access the information you use in it. The number of pages in this assignment is 4 or maximum 5, one page for each of the following: title page, text, references, and evaluation rubric.

II. The report must:

• use Times New Romans, font size 12
• have double spaces between lines
• use margins of 1.3 inches for both sides
• boldface type headings
• have 4 pages utilized as follows: title page, 1 text page, references page, and rubric page
• use APA style for references (To produce a correct reference page, you can use either citation machine https://www.citationmachine.net/ or bibme.org https://www.bibme.org/)

The Report Requirements and Format

The report must include the following highlighted headings:

Introduction

In 2–4 sentences explain the importance of this assignment. End this paragraph with a thesis statement in which you mention the main points of this assignment.

Bandura’s Theory

Mention the four steps in Bandura’s theory and briefly explain each step in it.

Parsons’ Theory

According to Parsons, occupational decision-making occurs when people have an accurate understanding of their individual traits (aptitudes, interests, personal abilities). Using this theory, write one paragraph in which you mention your intended major and the four most important traits you have for it.

Holland’s Theory

Refer to Holland’s theory and identify your personality. Then write your most interesting area of profession. Also write three key skills you need for this area and three subjects you need to study in preparation for it.

Conclusion

Write 2–4 sentences in which you explain the importance of choosing the right profession. Then write one sentence in which you summarize the key points you have discussed in the body paragraphs.

References

Using APA style, provide include at least 2–3 references on a separate page.

You answer should be in the following format:

Failure to submit a hard or soft copy of your assignment on the above-mentioned due date will result in a zero score for this assignment. Also, assignments sent as email messages will not be accepted. Failure to include the rubric will result in 15% off.
