In this assignment, you will pick one relationship that relates to the topics of this course from the knowledge graph that you are developing in Knowledge Graph Assignment 1” href=”https://ucirvine.instructure.com/courses/35235/assignments/738795″ data-api-endpoint=”https://canvas.eee.uci.edu/api/v1/courses/35235/assignments/738795″ data-api-returntype=”Assignment”>severalotherassignments for this course, and create a short video that explains that relationship. For example, building on the sample knowledge graph in Knowledge Graph Assignment 1, if you were to pick “Coffee”->made by->”Coffee bean”, you would make a video that describes the process by which coffee beans are made into coffee. (Please don’t do the coffee example; instead, choose a relationship from your own graph. In particular, please choose a relationship that you are confident is correct, and that you find interesting.)
Your video must include 50-60 seconds of content, as well as credits for all sources that you used in the creation of that content. Your credits must appear after the video’s content is complete, and the length of your credits do not count as part of the 50-60 second video length. The credits can be in the form of a static list of references, rolling credits like seen at the end of movies, or any other form you choose. The video on Fair Use from this page is a good example.
Please divide your credits into the following sections (or omit a section if you do not have any credits in that area):
- Articles, papers, and other scholarly texts: these are essentially evidence that support the things that you say or describe. They MUST be directly related to what you say and show in the video.
- Images: if you use any images that you yourself did not create, you must provide a reference for them here.
- Video: if you use any video content that you did not create, list these here.
- Audio: if you use any audio that you did not create, list these here.
- People: If you interview people, or have others appear in your video, list them as well.
Within each of these sections, make sure you list references in order of appearance.
Make sure your work meets the copyright and fair use guidelines as described here: Copyright and Fair Use in Student Videos.
References Format
As long as you are consistent, any format is fine. You’re welcome to model it on the style we typically use, or choose any other major format. For example:
National Research Council. 2012. Computing Research for Sustainability. Washington, DC: The National Academies Press.
Submission
We encourage (but do not require) that you post your video publicly (e.g., via YouTube), and submit a link to the public video. You may also submit a video that is not public by posting it as an “unlisted” video to YouTube or another platform and sharing the link with the teaching staff.
Please paste your link into the text box on this assignment by the deadline specified below.
Some Sources of Inspiration
For this assignment, we encourage you to do something creative with your video, to make it engaging for its viewers. Here are some examples of videos whose presentation style the teaching staff finds engaging:
