A little about this artist: Linda Sormin explores upheaval, migration, change and vulnerability through sculpture and site-responsive installations. Born in Bangkok, Thailand, she immigrated to Canada with her family at the age of 5, and grew up in small town Ontario.In the US, Sormin studied architecture for a year, then majored in literature, receiving her BA in English, with a minor in art.For 4 years in Laos and Thailand, she worked in community development, taught English, and did freelance writing. Sormin returned to North America to study ceramics at Andrews University, Sheridan College (Ceramics Dipoma ’01) and AlfredUniversity (MFA’03).

Sormin’s work is represented by Patricia Sweetow Gallery in San Francisco. Her large-scale installation, “Fierce Passengers”, was exhibited atCUAG(Ottawa, Canada) in 2018.Her recent sculpture “Sketch for Wet Dream Architecture” was collected by the CLAY Museum of Ceramic Art Denmark. Sormin shows her work nationally and internationally, recently at Kunstgarasjen (Bergen, Norway), Wuchangshuo Memorial Hall(Shanghai, China) and Jogja National Museum (Yogyakarta, Indonesia). Sormin lives and works in New York, NY. She is Associate Professor of StudioArt at New York University.
