Step 1. Introduction Essay. Identify which social class you think you grew up in and why (i.e. give some example of parents’ occupations, education, income, etc.).
- Describe the effect your social class had on you growing up (cultural capital).
Step 2. Identify at least 5 symbols , traits, associated with your social class today.
Once, you identified your 5 symbols, take a picture of each symbol (do not use google images). You must take a picture of the symbol.
In addition, answer the following questions for each symbol/trait
- A title and short description of your symbol (e.g “My ride” if you use your car )
- How does this symbol represent your social class? (e.g. How does a car represent social class? )
- Is this symbol important to you? Why? (e.g. is your car important to you? why)
Step 3. Conclusion.
Finish your project by reflecting on the project and answeriring the following questions:
- Do you anticipate experiencing social mobility during your lifetime? (e.g. intergenerational, intragenerational) Why?
