As a group, discuss the role of recruitment and selection in an organization and assess under what conditions it is preferable to conduct recruitment through an outside recruiting firm versus one within the organization. Think about how the nature of work has changed and consider that you have social media like Facebook and LinkedIn in your arsenal of recruitment. One thing to consider here is internal versus external hiring; so, you consider multiple positions for this assignment. You can think about any organization, including one you are (or have been) employed with. The idea behind this assignment is a reflection on what positions would benefit from hiring within versus hiring without, on one level, and then on another level, considering whether using an outside resource (LinkedIn, etc.) or an internal hiring model is best. Many companies use multiple modalities for this, but then companies like SalesForce tend to have their own model of hiring. There is no right or wrong answer for this discussion; consider the material from this week and use it all to help you think through this assignment.
