OBJECTIVE: Unleash your creative side. Create and alter an image using open source style editing software.
DIRECTIONS: Locate and find documentation on an open source program known as GIMP https://www.gimp.org/ (Links to an external site.). First, find out what the GIMP application does? What is it’s primary importance? Second, check for tutorials at the GIMP publisher’s site and FAQ (frequently asked questions) information (please scroll to the bottom of the site. they are there). Third, find tutorials and help resources online other than those supplied at the GIMP site (to do so, please run an online search). Make sure to site at least two other sites in your sources. Fourth, please locate one image of your choice at the following site and a background image too (pick a total of two images):
https://www.publicdomainpictures.net/en/ (Links to an external site.)
Fifth, Save these two image/downloads (please don’t select any ad sponsored pics).
Sixth, then, go back to the GIMP site or other resource site you’ve located and locate instructions for isolating or cutting out your original image from it’s background and pasting onto your new background. So, essentially your first image will get cut out and overlaid onto the new background. Save your new file. Lastly, write out in detail all the steps/procedures for what you just created. Don’t forget to list all your sources sought which should include at least two sites (not including the ones given in this prompt (GIMP & publicdomainpictures.net)).
WHAT TO SUBMIT: Please submit your two images before manipulation, + your new image file, + the steps you went through, and your two sources. So, three images in all plus two sources. (do not submit any MAC or PDFs please). You can submit this in a Word docx file with all images pasted into the doc and the sources.
