In this assignment, you will discuss whether the instruction delivered is correctly aligned with the given assessment on the basis of the video.

Tasks:

In a minimum of 200 words, respond to the following points:

  • Describe the method of instruction provided in the video.
  • Comment on the assessment that the instructor chose at the end of the video. What kind of assessment (formative or summative) is it?
  • Comment on the appropriateness of the alignment of the instruction delivered and assigned assessment task. Explain your answer.
  • Discuss what you would do differently, in terms of instruction and assessment, if you were the instructor of the course. Support your answer with evidence from scholarly readings.
  •  Pilot Testing

When designing a course, you must perform a needs analysis and ensure that your course will be able to fulfill the needs, such as the learning outcomes sought (the outcomes that you hope to accomplish), and be the best in terms of structure, sequence, and instructional design. These needs must be addressed, and various methods can help you gather the data to ensure that these needs are met. The methods that you can use are questionnaires, achievement test data from different groups, content analysis, and student exit questionnaires. All the information gathered from student responses and conferences is used to analyze and improve both instruction and the curriculum.

In this assignment, you will develop your own needs analysis for the purpose of analyzing a syllabus.

    Tasks:

Using web resources and readings recommended for this module, or you may conduct your own search of creditable resources, develop your own needs analysis. Choose a syllabus from either Argosy University or another university and then analyze it according to your own needs analysis. As a part of your analysis, respond to the following points in a minimum of 400 words:

    • Describe how you developed your needs analysis.
    • Explain why a needs analysis is a critical component of evaluation.
    • Include one to three scholarly sources to support your work.

    Submission Details:

    • By Wednesday, July 22, 2015, post your responses to this Discussion Area.
    • Through Sunday, July 26, 2015, respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts. While responding, comment on the contents of the needs analyses as compared to your own posts.
