Should the city reform it’s public transportation system? What is the current status of public
transpiration in your city? What are the needs? No matter what you recommend, please
provide evidence to support your recommendation.
Please make sure you address the following:
Cost, sources of funding, eminent domain, perceived benefits of the reformed system, potential
problems with the reformed system, impact on sprawl, relationship to affordable housing, and its
impact on the city broadly.
Some things to consider:
What are all the forms of public transportation? What is the usage of the public transpiration?
How much does it cost to ride? Are there calls for changes? Light Rail, Rapid Bus systems,
expanded bus system, bike lanes, etc? If your city is a heavy car use city, what are the pros and
cons of not having much public transportation? Have there been bonds to support this in the
past? Does your city levy a tax to help fund expanded public transportation?
