Week 6 Chad’s Case Study
Dale Carter is an education minister at the church where you are employed. He was arrested on Friday night for sexual assault of a child. Carter offered Chad, a 15 year-old boy in your church, a ride home from a youth activity on the previous Wednesday evening. Once they were in the car, Carter began to talk about inappropriate sexual information. Chad tried to get out of the car, but Carter grabbed him and kept him from leaving. Carter allegedly drove the Chad to a park where he sexually assaulted him and then took Chad home. Chad’s parent immediately noticed Chad was fearful and withdrawn and began questioning him. Chad told them about the abuse and they called the police. The police conducted interviews and a brief investigation before arresting Dale Carter on Friday night.
Develop a crisis response plan for the church based on Robinson’s Crisis Response Plan. Support your crisis intervention plan with specific information from the case and text or with other information you get from the Web or other sources. Write your 2-3 page case study in APA style (not including the title page and references).
In week 6 you will be asked to intervene in Chad’s case. This intervention will require you to use the Robinson Model in the church setting. You will NOT intervene with Dale Carter…since he has been arrested his mental health needs will be taken care of by a forensics team.
