First, read Yunek Moore’s story published by the American Civil Liberties Union called “Being Black is Not a Crime”.
Then, please write one brief paragraph about the main idea or claim that you think the writer is making. Yunek Moore’s topic and point are very clear: the police need to change.
Also, in your paragraph, I’d like you to consider the following:
* What strategies Moore uses to make the story more powerful?
* How is her story working to try to make the reader believe her and also come to agree with her about police brutality?
* You may also consider the question more generally of what makes storytelling more engaging, compelling, or persuasive, but be sure to use examples from Moore’s story to support your point of view.
