This is a research project to investigate the use of color in Graphics and Consumer Products. One of the goals of this assignment is to simply have you look at many Museum Quality graphics within the Letter Form Archive. (You should look throughout the Archive for at least 1.5 hours touring the images online).The project will require a written analysis of images. Write a 1.5 page (325 word to 475-word essay). The Project is to goad the student to explore complex color relationships and to explain their successes (and failures) for color theory attributes (geometric harmonies, etc.) in relation to their purpose. Analyze for color usage (look for geometric color harmonies [analogous, dyad, split complement, double complement, etc.]–avoid describing images with red, yellow, and blue due to their being too easy!).
Describe chroma and value usage, describe if they look “dated” (stuck in a specific decade and why). Describe all characteristics of color usage and if you notice any complex color interactions. Also, describe and analyze for demographics of the potential view/consumer i.e. for whom the graphic or advertising was designed to cater to: Men? Women? Children? People of a specific race? People of a specific age? Vegans? Nazis? Christians? etc.

Project value of Show & Tell presentation: (graded based on thoroughness of student analysis of description of image as well as complexity of the object chosen for discussion).
Project Value of Essay =20–points .. Essay will be graded for content as well as spelling, grammar, and proper MLA-citation format.
