STUDENTS, please follow these directions to complete the first four pages of your research paper that must be submitted on Monday.
FIRST: Everything is DOUBLED SPACE. Type a cover sheet with your heading on the left. Center your title in the middle of the page.
- Type in complete sentences with 2-3 indented paragraphs on each page. Do not use quotations or copy the research.
- Type your heading on page 1 only. Do not use bold any place in the paper.
- Type your last name and page number on every page in the upper right hand corner, example: Madry 1, Madry 2.
- Type ONLY THREE citations for whole paper. NOT MORE THAN THREE LINES.
NEXT: USE THE SAMPLE RESEARCH PAPER ON PAGES 149-156 INTHE LITTLE SEAGULL.
- Use parenthetical citations to give the author credit and to avoid plagiarism, ex. (Jones 78). If there is no author, give the title in italics, ex. (Hurston’s Use of Dialect). You must have three or more (3+) citations per page.

Dialect is a form of speech which distinguishes the narrator from the characters. This form of language makes the characters more authentic and realistic (Madison 75). This is an example when the author is given. Develop each paragraph with five or more sentences and indent. Hurston realizes the impact that language has on the use of personification when referring to death which was portrayed as a being with a sword and wearing squared-toed shoes (Impact of Dialect).
