This does two things: 1) Helps to ensure you cover each of the grading criterion. 2) Helps me get grading done and turned around faster so that you get your feedback faster because I can clearly see each area in your paper where you addressed each criterion. Please see section 3.03 on page 62 of the APA (2010) 6th edition publican manual which has a table demonstrating the correct formatting for the various levels of headings used in a publication.
