Renmin University of China Carbon Cycle & Keeling Curve Physics Discussion

You need to choose three learning goals from the course, and write two pages on each. To be specific about the portfolio requirements, you must use A4 pages, 10 point font for the text, single line spacing, 14 point for section headings, 8 point for the reference list (Harvard style), 1cm margins (top, bottom, and sides), you must include illustrations that use between 20 and 50% of the space for each learning goal. Your portfolio must start with a title page listing your student ZID only (e.g, “z1234567”). At the beginning of each two-page section, list the learning goal that you are covering. The references that you used for each learning goal should be listed at the end of the associated two pages (i.e., the references are included as part of the 2 page limit for each learning goal).. You will submit a total of 7 pages (one title, 3 x 2 pages on the learning goals), as a PDF file.

Marking will be based 30% on the degree to which you followed the above instructions, and 70% on the quality of your discussion of the three goals, as judged by the tutor who will take into account correctness, logical approach, references used, and relevance of illustrations.

I suggest that you choose learning goals that you found particularly challenging, and use this as a way of studying for the final exam.

The

learning goals are explicitly listed out for each topic: for the first

half of the course they are in the lectures slides, and are called

“learning outcomes” – e.g., “Explain the negative feedback in

water-cooled reactors that leads to stability”, for the second half they

are in the “learning goals and resources” documents for each topic

under the headings “Learning goals”, e.g., “Explain what the carbon

cycle is and how it gives rise to seasonal variations in the Keeling

curve”.
