Between 1848 and the present, perhaps no relationship has been more important to California than its relationship with Mexico. It is a complicated relationship, and one that defies easy classification. It is your job to characterize this relationship, using three moments/themes/eras to support your characterization. To succeed, please follow these guidelines:
1. Characterize the relationship in your thesis. This requires you to pick the best work to define it. Be creative and thoughtful.
2. Explain, in your first paragraph, what three themes/eras/moments you will discuss.
3. 10 pages, double spaced
