This article talks about abortion/ anti abortion Laws within the U.S. and states views on abortion. Last week the House of Representatives voted to pass the “No Taxpayer Funding For Abortions Act”, which means that this would ban all federal funding for abortion, and it would also deny tax credits to people who purchase health insurance to cover this procedure. Oregon is one of the only states that doesn’t have major limits on the abortion process, so Pro-Life activists have been working to get on the ballot in the November poll, that would prohibit the use of state taxpayer money for abortions. this article also talks about some of the individual states such as Colorado, where voters would vote on classifying a fetus as a person, which means that the fetus would have full legal rights under the state’s constitution, which North Dakota will already have this on their ballot this year. Activists feel that this is the year where serious change will happen dealing with Abortion.
In my opinion, I stand in the middle. I understand why there is pro life and pro choice, but what makes me have the right to vote on what a woman does with her body? I don’t feel that it is right for women to go out and get pregnant, then have abortions and act like nothing happened, but I don’t have that right to decide what a woman does to her body. personally I feel that I am pro life, with the exception that I feel that maybe an abortion is within reason if that woman was raped or something along those lines, but if it was her choice in the first place, then she shouldn’t have an abortion. People in today’s society only want absolutes on topics such as this one, But people don’t understand that there should be certain times where certain measures can take place. I found this article interesting because i know that this is a big issue in the United States today.
