Travis Heggie;

Class,

Following our exam on Tuesday I need to be out of town at meetings for a few days.  We will not meet together in class until Tuesday Nov. 4th.

During this time I want you to read Chapters #21 and #24.  You will absolutely want to know everything about Egypt for the third exam.

Also, during this time I want you to complete the Nolindia assignment and bring it with you to class…completed and stapled….and ready to talk about it on Tuesday Nov. 4th.

The Nolindia assignment refers to a blog written by Julie Nolin, a friend of mine from Vancouver.  Julie has been a prominent newsanchor in Vancouver for the last 15 years and has also worked as an instructor at a university in Vancouver.

In her role as an instructor, Julie has made several extensive trips to Japan, China, and India.   Julie has kept a blog of her trips to India; a country that can be challenging for tourists.  It can be especially challenging for FEMALE tourists.

For this assignment I want you to read ALL of Julie’s blog.   SCROLL down to the bottom of the page to begin reading her entries.  She begins writing about her preparation for the trip and it continues from
there.  You have the time so please make sure you read ALL her entries.  Don’t skim it because the assignment is worth 50 points….or half of an exam.

The URL for the blog is:

 http://nolindia.wordpress.com/

After you have read the blog I want you to TYPE up a 2-3 page reaction paper.  Make it a double-spaced 12-point Times New Roman font TYPED paper that is stapled.

Specifically I want you to give me a review of what Julie did in India and then rank your five favorite Julie experiences telling me why you liked these particular experiences.  It is your paper and your own choice
for selecting which experiences you choose.  Also, please rank the five worst Julie experiences and tell me why you think they were negative experiences.  Finally, give me your impression of Julie.  For example, is she courageous, brave, a global citizen, or just plain nuts.  Give examples and justify your reasoning.  Just because I know Julie – you can still say what you want.

Also tell me if you would ever want to do this type of trip.  Why or why not?  There is no right or wrong answer as long as you justify your position.
