Assignment Guidelines:
PART I:
- First, watch the TED Talk, “What to Trust in a Post-Truth World“; then, skim through both “Thou Shall Not Commit Logical Fallacies” and “Your Bias.Is” websites.
- Pick one logical fallacy AND one bias from the two sites listed above that you think prevent you from finding the truth in this post-truth world, specifically related to “the Internet and social media.”
- explain why you think these are your major fallacy and bias, give some examples from your daily life, and conclude with how you plan to improve on overcoming that logical fallacy.
(1) First, watch “What to trust in a post-truth world?” and make a video response to the TED Talk as a way to start your video discussion. Do you agree that we live in a “post-truth” world?
(2) Then, in your discussion, introduce ONE of the fallacies and ONE bias (from the 2 assigned websites) that describe you the most. What do you think is your main logical fallacy and bias that prevent you from finding the truth?
