1. Assume you live in a small community and your new next-door neighbor, a drummer, practices with his band Sunday afternoons and evenings. Sunday afternoons and evenings are your only “off” time at home. You don’t like the noise. Imagine the ways you might address the conflict in individualist cultures. Imagine the ways you might address the conflict in collectivist cultures.
2. Now assume you are of European ancestry and live in a small community in the United States. Your new next-door neighbor has recently immigrated from South Korea. He is a member of a gayo (K-pop) music and dance group. Your neighbor’s group practice sessions disturb your time at home. Use the Cultural Grid concept to guide how you might address this conflict.
