  1. NOTE: Submit one 4 page Word file or PDF for this assignment. (title page, 2-page resource, reference page)
    STEP 1: SELECT A TEXT: Team members are expected to communicate with the team in the assignment discussion early in the week to create a plan for the assignment and to select ONE social studies or science text for primary or intermediate grades.
    Choose one science or social studies expository text appropriate for primary or intermediate students. INCLUDE the name, author, and URL of the text is available online on the 2-page resource list. NOTE: DO NOT use teachers pay teachers to locate a text or activities.
    Step 2: IF THE TEAM HASN’T SELECTED THE TEXT, GO BACK TO STEP 1: Then for step 2, individual contributions are expected to be made by NOON MST on Sunday with confirmation posted by each team member in the team discussion by NOON MST ON SUNDAY. The activities are created for the specific text selected by the team.
    Imagine the members of your team are the literacy coaches for a K–8 school. The district’s state test scores for reading comprehension have trended down over the past several years and they see a need to address this. They have asked the literacy coaches to provide a resource of activities that will enhance and promote comprehension of content-area text.
    Create a 2-page resource list of content-area reading activities for the team’s selected science or social studies text that promote comprehension. Be creative with the formatting of the 2 page resource to fit the information on no more than 2 pages. (Plus the title page and reference page will make the assignment file 4 pages.
    Include the following activities for the specific science or social studies text selected by the team:

    • Pre-reading activity
    • Post-reading activity
    • Close reading
    • Writing activity
    • Website, game, or app that supports content

    Provide a differentiation or accommodation for each activity to support the following exceptionalities:

    • English learner
    • Reading disability (comprehension)
    • ADHD

    Include a title page, in-text citations, and a reference page in APA format citing the social studies or science text students will read along with citing the course readings and professional education resources from the University’s library database rather than Google searches.
    Step 3: Finally, all team members are expected to participate to the editing and revising of the assignment before NOON on Monday with confirmation posted by each team member in the team discussion.
