Review your textbook and identify an external communication genre that is similar to (or the same as) the type of external communication you hope to include as part of your proposal.

Consult the “index of documents” section in the opening pages of the textbook. You will notice dozens of different external communication genres: sales brochures, instruction manuals, patient care materials, owner’s guides, blogs, press releases, infographics, podcasts, etc.

  1. Specify the type of external communication genre you have selected.
    1. Discuss one rhetorical quality or strategy that relates to the given genre.
  2. Explain how you have attempted to realize this strategy or quality in your own external communication sample. You should attach a draft copy of your external communication artifact to your post.

By Sunday, in 1-2 paragraphs, reply to a peer and answer the following questions:

  1. What is illuminating about the rhetorical quality or strategy your peer outlines? How might your partner’s discussion of this strategy/quality be developed?
  2. How is this rhetorical quality/strategy similar or different to the quality or strategy you outlined? How might they complement one another to inform or persuade audiences? You might also consider comparing the genres you and your peer selected.
  3. What are the strengths and weakness of the external communication artifact your partner has drafted? How might this artifact be developed?
