Please screen the above video, and submit your responses below. As usual, I’ve included a few framing questions, but please share whatever observations you would like to make!
And do first respond prior to reading other responses; this is, like with our previous quizzes, initially about your own reaction/response/impression of the work. Thereafter, please review the thread and leave a couple of comments to other people’s responses.
Some framing questions & thoughts, though you are welcome to explore any unstated frames as well:
What type of music or sound performance does the piece feel in place with? Again, offer a few examples, either from our class soundings or outside work, that you feel relate to the video’s music/sound sensibility.
Lastly, consider the interplay between spoken word, song/music, and the visual rhythm of Radical Belongings; how do these work together, and how might the visual & montage element of the film create its own orchestration, so to speak? Do certain passages of the piece come to mind, when consider this query?
