In Johann Hari’s TED Talk, “Everything you think you know about addiction is wrong”, claims that the opposite of addiction is not sobriety, but connection. Here’s the link to hisTed talk:

In 2 pages, double spaced and 12 point font, please provide evidence to support either that Hari is right, or that he is wrong. Is Hari correct to say that the opposite of addiction is connection? And if so, how do we know?

This is to be written in essay format. It’s only 2 pages so get straight to the point. Be reasonable in your expectations of yourself. I just want to see you put in effort, did some independent reading, and cared enough to really think about this. And express yourself clearly. In particular, address the notion of connection. Why does it matter? What kinds of connections matter? Don’t simply quote Hari in your response, but do some independent reading on your own. Suggested searches could be: cause of addiction, addiction and connection, recovery from addiction, that kind of thing.

In supporting your argument, you need to provide citations and references from quality sources of literature (such as peer-reviewed academic publications). Please have a minimum of 4 citations per page, from multiple and varied sources.

You should have a clear thesis statement at the end of your first paragraph.

Your references should be included after your 1-2 pages of writing, APA formatting is preferred.
