Queens University The Perfect Drug SUBDA 21 Paper

Design and describe the perfect drug. In this be sure to address — pharmacology, neurobiology, subjective effects, risks and benefits. Your novel drug can combine elements of other existing drugs if you wish.

The paper is to be 2 pages double-spaced, with a separate additional citations/references page. Pls use APA formatting.

Start by thinking: what is a drug, and what would be a drug of most benefit? Drugs always have risks and draw-backs, so think about designing a drug which minimizes those. However, drugs by definition can be both medicine and poison, so be sure to address how the benefits of your drug can be maximized while risks are minimized.

Start by describing your drug (give it a name?) and how it works on the brain. What category of drugs (if any) does it fit in? Is it a stimulant, a depressant, a psychedelic, or some combination thereof. Be sure to explain how it works (pharmacology/chemistry, effects on the brain + neurotransmitters), and the effects it creates on the user.

Please note the drug needs to be psycho-active and cannot, for example, be a new drug which cures cancer. It is however, ok to be a little imaginative, as long as you explain the pharmacology of how the drug works and the way it works on the brain etc.

You do want citations and references. So for example, if you create an imaginative stimulant drug, you can reference research on existing stimulant drugs about how they work. That way you’re not just making everything up, and to some degree your paper will be based in science.
