QMB 3200 USF Data Set Information Questions

Data:

The goal of the working with data is to allow you to get hands-on experience analyzing and interpreting data using the techniques we learn throughout the semester.  This semester, you are to collect data on automobiles (may be trucks or cars, not motorcycles). Ideally, you would randomly sample automobiles from the three models that you decide to work with, but, in the interest of time, I want you to get data quickly and I will ignore the random component.

I want you to collect data from 25 used automobiles from each of three comparable car brands (cars in the same automobile class). The variables that you will enter will be Price of the vehicle, Mileage of the vehicle, Year (Enter 0 for 2015 or earlier, 1 for 2016 or later) and the Model of the vehicle (enter the model as either 1, 2, or 3, which you will define later for me in Homeworks that you are assigned). Your data set should consist of a total of 75 cases with four variables. Sources: internet sites such as craigslist, cargurus, newspaper, auto trader magazines.

This data set will be used on the homework assignments that I will be posting in Canvas.

Software:

Initially, I want you to create an Excel data set that you save on your computer. When entering data in Excel, use the variable names Price, Mileage, Year, and Model as the column headings and enter the data for your automobiles below. When entering the data, DO NOT enter dollar signs (for the price) or commas (for the price and/or mileage). When we import this data into Statistix, these special characters will cause issues.

All HW printouts should be created using the Statistix software. The software is available free of charge on the USF Application Gateway in MyUSF or can be purchased at the campus bookstore for around ten dollars and loaded onto PC (Not MACs).

Uploading and Downloading files in Statistix in the Application Gateway: NOTICE: USF is not currently using Citrix with Application Gateway, so that part of the video is incorrect! You will want to save your data set to your OneDrive in order to be able to access it through Application Gateway, as well as saving your output there.
