1. QEP Writing Assignments/Writing Assessment #1

   The purpose of this assignment is to assess your writing ability as you enter freshman composition. Understanding your abilities at this point helps the university and your professors understand how to create assignments and develop curriculum to best support your learning, growth and continued success as a student.

   You will respond to a slightly different prompt at the end of the semester, and we will compare your initial writing to your writing at the end of the course.
   Do your best in responding to the prompt. You will have 40 minutes to complete this assignment once you begin.
   1. Beginning of Semester Reflection Think about a time you did something that maybe you shouldn’t have and learned a lesson. Tell the story of what happened, the consequences (or the lack of consequences), what you learned about yourself and life, and how it changed you or altered the way you behave or see the world.

   Requirements: Write 1.5 to 2 pages.
   Consider any (or all) of the following questions as you reflect:

   • What happened?
   • What did you learn?
   • How has this lesson been important to you and to your future?
