Data Requirements for Completing the Course Paper
To complete the course paper, you will need the following current or recent organizational data:
• Adopted organizational or unit budgetDemographic data regarding the clients served by the organizationDemand and work output data (e.g., number of cases processed, number of clients served by the agency,
etc.)Description of organizational functions, tasks and activitiesOrganizational chart and mission, goal and objective statementsStaffing levels by job title
This information and data provide the basis for developing your program unit or subunit within the organization
you selected.
Note about Selecting A Paper Topic
Since case studies are provided for PUB 5945, students are not permitted to use the topics addressed in the case
studies for their course paper. To select a topic for the course paper, you will need to assess your current
organization and identify a public or social issue that is not addressed currently. You cannot use a current project
that is in place in your organization. To verify this, you must provide the instructor with an organizational chart of
your organization to illustrate the need for the program which you will address in your course paper.
If your organization has a set of policies (e.g., workplace violence, employee health or wellness, etc.) which can be performed by a unit or subdivision that does not currently exist in your organization, you can develop a unit or program to perform the functions that are required by the policy. You must provide the instructor with a copy of the policy and an organizational chart to verify that a unit or division is not performing the functions and tasks mandated by the policy.
