Activity%20%281%29

Now that you understand a little more about social psychology, using the resources below, further explore the concepts of social cognition, schemas, and social thinking.

Review the PowerPoint on Social Cognition

Watch the video on Social Thinking

On-ground students only: Have a class discussion on Social Thinking & Social Cognition.

Activity%202

View the video on Schemas

On-ground students: Break up into groups of 2-3 and identify and discuss a few schemas to compare/contrast.

Online students: Give personal thought to a few schemas to compare/contrast or discuss them with a friend, family member, or colleague.

Activity%203

Think about a particular schema you have developed. Then, mentally compare that to a completely different schema. Compare and contrast the differences between the two schemas.

Some schemas to consider are eating out at a sit-down restaurant; riding public transportation; being in the classroom; going through a drive-thru window (feel free to explore others).

activity 4

Prepare a 250-300 word explanation that answers the following three questions.

1 – How would you explain the relationship of schemas and social

cognition?

2 – How are your identified schemas different?

3 – Why are schemas, in general, useful?

Upload your explanation into Moodle.

Online students – your assignment is due by Sunday night at 11:59 p.m.

On-ground students – your instructor will provide you with the due date.
