PSY 150 San Diego State University Relationships Discussion

Young adulthood is primarily about developing a sense of self and forming meaningful relationships. Welcome to NOW. Many of your lives are at this point.

Here are two very different videos concerning different aspects of relationships – A Vision of Love and Marriage (Links to an external site.) and Why Domestic Violence Victims Don’t Leave (Links to an external site.)

(Links to an external site.)

Does the adult relationship that develops have anything to do with the attachment styles of the people in the relationship?

For this discussion think about the relationships you’ve been in both good and bad and address these questions. Why are relationships important? What makes for a relationship that’s mutually satisfying for both parties? Please refer to the videos and the chapter for context. But what makes it really interesting is personal examples. What worked, and what didn’t work, in your various relationships? We always learn something from these experiences. How would you go about entering into a new relationship given what you now know? What would you avoid in the future? What advice would you give others?
