In “The Flight from Conversation” by Sherry Turkle and in “Have Smart phones Destroyed a Generation” by Jean Twenge the authors consider the current technology as detrimental to the human personal relationships and even phycological state of mind. Turkle in particular believes that people seek some kind of a retreat in technology, while Twenge focuses mostly on the generation iGen as consumers of that technology that creates negative effects on the quality of their lives. Please consider the following prompt while writing your next essay:
How are the humans today becoming a “new way of being”? Why is it that the iGen feels lonely and isolated even though social networking sites promise a constant connection with other people and friends?
