The Journal allows you the opportunity to reflect on, or think about, various items you will be covering in your class. The general nature of the topic of the course can sometimes stir up difficult feelings: ethics, laws, and diversity are not easy, or necessarily fun topics to talk about. Be thoughtful in your response, writing at least 300 words.
- When thinking about how ethics, laws and diversity inform your possible clinical work what areas do you think you might struggle with the most, and how might you overcome these struggles?
- Reflect on how your identity as a professional counselor interacts with your client’s presenting problem – what ethical issues might this bring up. Are there any legal issues that need to be addressed?
- With all this being considered, how will you ensure that you are working from a culturally informed viewpoint?
