Project Summary

There will be two projects for the course. For each, you can choose between a variety of computational physics options or a creative physics teaching option.

Option 1: Computational Physics

Kinematics and Gravitation (pick one):

  • 2 Body Gravitation (Python or Matlab)
  • Falling Sphere
  • Projectile Motion
  • V2 Rocket (Excel)

Oscillators (pick one):

  • Rigid Pendulum
  • Falling Through the Earth
  • Boat Anharmonic Oscillator

Option 2: Physics Teaching

This is more open-ended, I strongly suggest you run your idea by me. If one of these isn’t big enough, you are free to combine several mini-projects.

  • Demo: Record a video of yourself performing a demonstration and explaining the phenomena.
  • ELI5: Explain a concept from the course as you would to a 5-year-old. It can be a video or a book. (Or, in theory, a game demonstrating something from the course, but I can’t think of how this would work.)
  • Tutoring: Record yourself explaining a concept (not just a problem) from the course as you would to a fellow student.
