Prof. Moses Final Project

I am just giving you a heads up.  WE now get to put everything together. I need this by December 7.

Final Report

This week you will write complete and submit your final report. The final report consists of the following elements:

  • Title Page
  • Literature Review
  • Reference Page
  • Completed Action Research Documentation Form
  • Appendixes

It is important to read, reread, revise and edit your report prior to submission. This final report is your opportunity to exhibit your ability to research, write academically, think critically, problem solve, and use APA with mastery. Your project must be satisfactory in all of these areas in order for you to be successful in this course.

You can view a completed Example Action Research Documentation Form in the Required Studies section.

Data Organization

This week you will organize and make sense of your data, looking for patterns and themes. One efficient way to organize your data is in a matrix with your research variables as axis descriptors. You can then analyze the matrix to see what the data show. What observations can you make based on this information? What patterns and themes seem to emerge? As you summarize the information, look for the factors and effects, always returning to your research question…in other words, stay focused. View the Synthesis Matrix Example spreadsheet .

Study, analyze, and synthesize the data you have gathered from your action research. Explain what you find, but don’t try to move the data beyond their capability, meaning, don’t make conclusions that the data don’t support. If it’s there, you will find it. If it isn’t there, it isn’t there.

Once the data are organized and summarized you can complete the final section of your Action Research Documentation Form. You will present evidence regarding the effectiveness of the action plan and how results of the project will be implemented into your educational practice. Again, compelling questions that may guide your decisions are, “What is the story told by my data?” and “What might explain this story?” (Sagor, 2002, p. 15).

On the Action Research Documentation Form, the Analysis and Reporting Results section is comprised of three subsections: Reporting Results, Implications for Future, Conclusion. Answer the questions from each subsection and insert the paragraphs into your Action Research Documentation Form.

Reporting Results

  • What are your results and how will you share them?
  • How do the baseline data compare to the ending data?
  • What is the story told by your data?

Implications for Future

  • How will the results impact your teaching in the future?
  • How did this project inform your decision-making as a professional?

Conclusion

  • Did this study improve student performance? How?
  • Did this study improve your skills as a teacher? How?
