Over the past few months, we learned how to create financial models that capture complex business scenarios, ranging from diagnostic companies and real estate to airlines and agriculture. In each of these scenarios, we followed a similar framework that involved breaking down the business into a simple set of operational considerations, then mapping these considerations to formulas captured in Excel.
For this project, your group will select a product or business segment of a publicly-traded company (PELETON Stock NAME: PTON (NASDAQ) to feature as your target of an analysis study. As part of this analysis, you’ll need to collect information from various company sources, analyst reports, and financial documents to create a presentation along with a base financial model and three variations based on strategic possibilities and/or pressures.
You will need to utilize research to determine the company’s:
- Core financial drivers
- Unit economics
- Operating expenses
- Primary levers
Your model should include semi-realistic data based on how this business operates.
You will then use a mix of research and insights to show how this business model might be adjusted further on the basis of strategic changes—and then show how these changes could reflect on the financial picture.
*(It will be included for the next order) *For this course, your group will need to produce a 5–7 minute presentation (a video recording with an accompanying set of slides) that includes:
- a summary of the business product or category you selected;
- its current position in the market today;
- the information you gleaned about the strategic forces and opportunities influencing
the company; - a comparison of the model variations you produced;
and your ultimate recommendations for the executives of this company on
strengthening the business line.
You should include citations in the appendix of the presentation.
All of your project materials—the final model, report, and presentation—should be created with an assumed member of the company’s senior leadership team in mind.

I will include some samples of the financial model of how we have developed the file in class to utilize the same model / concept for the project. the word analysis is based on the key points in these instructions.
This hw assignment will include 2 pages for the report analysis and a 1 custom spreadsheet with a few tabs creating the financial model.
