Due to the Pandemic I will be providing 6 Videos, Pictures, and 2 Powerpoints of VVC Preschool and the VVC Lab School Handbook for students in the Preschool Classroom Observation Module. You must use these 2 books i do not have them so only bid if you can get them

The purpose of this assignment is to observe and evaluate a program serving young children for various aspects of diversity, sensitivity, and anti-bias (or lack thereof). Additionally the purpose id to critically assess the components of linguistically and culturally relevant, inclusive, age-appropriate, anti-bias approaches in promoting optimum learning and development
The focus of this assignment is NOT YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE CLASSROOM BUT the 4 AREAS OF DIVERSITY, identifying the positives and negatives that this classroom incorporates or does not incorporate these 4 areas of diversity.
The paper should be at least 12 pages not including cover and title page – (Need to include: APA Title Page, written paper and APA reference page)
For this assignment you will need to:
- Choose 4 areas of diversity (e.g., racial, religion, cultural, language, gender, social class, different abilities/special needs, and/or family structure/circumstances), addressed in the texts or lecture to focus on. Due to using videos and pictures the areas that may have more information (language, race, culture, gender, different abilities, family structure/circumstances- there is not much on religion since it is not a religious base preschool)
- “Observe” watch the videos and pictures provided by instructor and the VVC Lab school Handbook (all located in Preschool Observation Paper)
- While “observing” take notes regarding signs of equality and anti-bias education in areas such as: lesson plans/curriculum, environment (pictures, posters), literature, interactions between teachers, staff, and children (both physical and verbal), and planned experiences (food experiences, parties, field trips, etc.). Due to pandemic most will be based on the classroom environment and Parent Handbook
- Complete the Checklist for Assessing the Visual Material Environment located on pages 161-162 of the Anti-Bias Education text. MUST INCLUDED THE CHECKLIST COMPLETED due to Pandemic can be written out and/or take a picture of the checklist- I have provided the Checklist at the bottom of the Preschool Classroom Observation Module
- Write a reflection paper detailing things that how your program addressed the 4 areas of diversity you chose to focus on, what the program you observed did well, and what they could do differently to promote anti-bias education and diversity. THIS IS THE FOCUS OF THE ASSIGNMENT and please have details
The Focus of the Assignment is NOT your observation but addressing the 4 areas of diversity (you pick which 4), address the positives of these 4 areas of diversity that you “observe” at the preschool with specific examples, address the areas of improvement that this preschool can do to improve on these 4 areas of diversity (what would you do in your classroom) and completing/turning in your notes and checklist.
Please follow the Written Paper Format:
1. Introduction- (5 Points)
A. Must introduce the VVC Lab School with details about the program that can be found on the VVC Lab School Web page (location, hours, type of families it serves, age group it serves, extra).
B. Address Anti-Bias Education (define it) and how it is important in preschool education- make sure to cite in APA
C. Should be at least an in-depth paragraph or more
2. 4 Areas of Diversity (10 Points)
A. Need to state the four areas of diversity that they will be focusing on for the observation.
B. Need to define each area and explain each area of diversity – keep them separate.
C. Need to cite in APA
D. Should be an in-depth paragraph per area of diversity (need at least 4 paragraphs- about a page or more).
3. “Observation” Summary (20 Points)- worth alot of points- make sure to have details (need to paint me a picture).
A. Need to connect observation specifically to each of the four areas of diversity (please make a paragraph at least for each area of diversity separately).
B. Need to have specific examples from the videos and picture of VVC Lab school address all four areas of diversity.
C. Need to be objective in your summary of the observation.
D. Should be at least 2 pages in length and separate by the area of diversity.
4. Identification of positive practices at VVC Lab School (this is worth a great deal of points) (20 Points)
A. Need to explain the positives of each of the four areas of diversity from the VVC Lab school (please make a paragraph at least for each area of diversity separately).
B. Need to provide specifics from the observation and also provide textbook/PowerPoint material that is cited in APA,
C. Need to be objective in your connections to the observation.
D. Should be at least 2 pages in length and separate by the area of diversity.
5. Identification of improvements needed (negatives) at VVC Lab School (10 Points)
A. Need to explain the areas of improvement (negatives) of each of the four areas of diversity from the VVC Lab school (please make a paragraph at least for each area of diversity separately). Even the best centers can be improved
B. Need to provide specifics from the observation and also provide textbook/PowerPoint material that is cited in APA.
C. Need to be objective in your summary of the observation.
D. Should be at least 1-2 pages in length and separate by the area of diversity.
6. Recommendations (10 Points)
A. Need to provide suggestions in how to fix the struggle of each of the four areas of diversity from the VVC Lab school (please make a paragraph at least for each area of diversity separately).
B. Basically what would you do to improve that area of diversity (must address all four areas of diversity).
C. Make sure to cite the textbook or PowerPoint in APA to support your claims.
D. Things that could be considered:
What changes would you make…?
How would you improve …?
What would happen if …?
How would you adapt ________ to create a different …?
How could you change (modify) (plan) …?
What could be done to minimize (maximize) …?
What way would you design …?
What could be combined to improve (change) …?
Suppose you could _______ what would you do …?
E. Should be about a page in length
7. Conclusion (10 Points)- PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE SPECIFICS IN THE CONCLUSION- not a general conclusion
A. Knowledge- 4 Significant concepts that you have learn about from this assignment- this cannot be a list of 4 items but need at least a sentence per concept which the concepts are explained. NEED TO EXPLAIN- not a list!
Examples- I know the fact about… :….. I have more understanding of …. I am aware of… I can better comprehend……. I realize …. Etc.
B. Skills: 3 Skills- Discuss/identify/list the skill (ability, capability) you gained pertaining to this assignment.
Be specific and provide three skills.
Examples-I will be able to …… I am capable of…… I know how to do
C. Growth: After discussing/identifying/listing the knowledge and the skills you have gained. Now, provide an explanation as to how information and the skills learned will be used for future growth.
Like: Discuss how you will use this knowledge and skills you have developed;
And how you will improve or build upon your strengths and weaknesses.
D. Beliefs: How has completing the above assignment influenced your beliefs about Developmentally appropriate practices? Quality of the program? Etc. Anything else you would like to share regarding the assignment
F. This should be about an in-depth paragraph or more.
8. Quality of writing (10 points)
a. Grading on college level writing which includes correct grammar, spelling, neatness, APA format, Title Page in APA, Cite in APA, and have a Reference Page in APA.
9. Completed notes and checklist (5 points)
Total = 100 points
Please make sure that you reference and relate the information to the text/lecture information; provide correct APA in-text citation– points will be deducted if not provided.
Note: You will be graded on your use of correct grammar, spelling, neatness, APA format, Title Page in APA, Cite in APA, and have a Reference Page in APA. Please see the Grading Rubric.
Remember, the paper must be typed, double space, size 12 font and essay and/or paragraph format with a title/cover page and APA format. No BULLET POINT format- MUST USE ESSAY FORMAT.
