Individual Research Paper (25%) & Power Point Presentation (25%):
I will assign a research topic to each student by 4/5/15. Detailed research paper instructions will be posted under “assignments” tab on Blackboard by 4/5/15. The individual paper will be due on 4/26/15. Your paper should include a short summary of the research findings and your view or commentary on the topic. The view may off a controversial perspective. The paper should reflect your understanding of the topic and your ability to present an educated opinion. A properly formatted bibliography should be included. Your opinion must be an educated and informed one. Please support your view with literature or other evidence. Cite your sources within the narrative of your paper using author/date style. The paper should be concise and well written. Examples of topics are listed below. You may choose to present commentary from both the employee and the employer perspective.
The grade will be based on the range selection and the quality of sources (30 points), your ability to concisely and effectively summarize the topic (20 points), your ability to present an educated and supported opinion (20 points) and writing style, including bibliography, grammar, and formatting (30 points). DO not use Wikipedia or any other encyclopedic website as source material. Only use journal articles, published books (not this course text book!), and newspaper articles. THIS IS IMPORTANT! You will lose many points if you do not use academic, high quality publications in your training!
Your paper should be typed, double-spaced with a title page and be 3-5 pages, excluding the bibliography and title page. No other format will be accepted. You will then present a brief 3-slide power point presentation on the Discussion Board for the class to review and comment by 4/21/15. Feel free to use audio and graphics in your presentation.
