Counterfeit Manufacturing Overseas
In this discussion forum, you will have the opportunity to consider what you would do as a manager facing a scenario in which you must balance the ethical implications of your actions on the local population where your products are manufactured while keeping your company’s best interest in mind.
As a manager in a MNC, you discover that your firm’s products are counterfeited by small family firms that employ child labor in rural Bangladesh. You are aware of the corporate plan to phase out the products soon. You also realize that once you report it to the authorities, these family firms will be shut down, employees will be out of work, and families and children will be starving. It is up to you to decide how to proceed.
For your initial post in the discussion forum, review information from Chapter 2 in the textbook and use your personal judgment to address the following: Suggest at least one creative solution that might help the local family firms, without costing money or loss of business to your company.
