Discuss the origins of altruism. Which theory or theories of
the development of altruism speak to you? Your reasoning may be from
personal experience or from other research that you have conducted. Give
examples that support your theoretical position.

In Chapter 39 by Batson, Ahmad & Lishner (2011), you will review some of the prevailing theories on the development of altruism attached.

discussing the evolution of morality in primates and humans.

Perhaps we
share inborn tendencies toward morality with other creatures. Morality
is tied to social-emotional intelligence, which we will touch upon next
week. Morality has historically been seen as a human function tied to
the ability to observe and analyze behavior, to make judgments about my
own behavior and the behavior of others, to solve problems and project
into the future. At the heart of morality is a sense of fairness that
derives from empathy and altruism.
