In this paper, you will pick a topic and do some research on this issue and consider how key members of the U.S. government must respond to it. For example, does the Department of Justice have to take a decision on something? Is there a legislation currently under debate by the U.S. Congress? Imagining yourself as a staffer member of Congress, you need to advise that member why he/she should take a stand or vote in a particular way. For example, confronted with a choice for backing (for example) or rejecting Obama”s health care bill, what should your member of Congress do and why?
Your paper should make a clear recommendation and offer three reasons why they should take your position and be adopted. You will not be judges as to whether your answer was ‘right’ or ‘wrong,’ as both sidees of the argument are plausible, but about the extent to which you present a logical, well-structured argument either for or against, that is backed up with evidence. You MUST do research on this topic and present facts, data, and arguments from scholarly sources to support your position.
Format: 5 pages, double-spaced, normal (12 point) font, normal margins
