- DISCUSSION BOARD GRADING GUIDELINES:
- All discussions and threads, first and foremost, must use academic language, tone, terms, and courtesy and civility.2) Our historical discussions are focusing on stating “historical analysis/interpretations”. Therefore, each discussion forum and threads require the following critical components for full credit and true historical analysis:
- a) Central Theme or Key Point or Central Argument
- b) Supporting Historical Evidence or Examples for central theme or key point such as: key individuals, events, policies, laws, organizations, etc. and these come from our textbook, designated websites, designated historical videos, primary sources, and/or outside sources (Chicago Style citations required)
3) All discussions must be submitted in a timely manner for both due dates and subsequent follow up conversations and /or discussions. IMPORTANT each discussion forum is time frame restricted, meaning they all occur during the weekly windows. 4) All “discussions” REQUIRE the following for FULL CREDIT on GRADES:
- a) “Initial Post”: Student states their historical analysis with above mentioned “central theme / key point” and supporting “historical examples / evidence”. (500 words minimum) Students are responsible for posting substantive, well-thought out evaluations and/or questions. Students are required to draw from at least TWO sources such as primary documents, textbook, and lectures/content modules, videos.
- b) “Response / Reply”: Student MUST “Response or Reply” to at least “TWO” other initial posts from other classmates again using a “central theme / key point” and “historical examples / evidence” for discussion replies /responses. (250 words minimum) Students are required to not just reply by “saying good job” or “really enjoyed your post”. The responses need to applicable to historical ideas presented in forum and provide specific examples
