Sections 3 and 4
Note: This unit discussion meets CACREP standards/Counseling, Prevention, and Intervention C.3 – Knowledge; Collaboration and Consultation M.4 – Knowledge.
Submit the following sections of your Case Assessment Project:
- Section 3 – Approach Selection (3–4 pages). Choose either play therapy (PT) or group counseling to assess the following:
- If you use PT, identify how you would address the child’s presenting issues through the use of play. Discuss what toys and materials would be most appropriate for the child’s issues. Discuss your style in the play therapy room. Explain how you would incorporate, from a prevention perspective, elements that would help the child cope with crises related to bullying, school transitions, and other developmentally likely situations. Also, explore the child’s developmental level and explain the developmental issues you would like to address in your work with this child.
- If you use group counseling, identify how you will address the child’s presenting issues through a group format. Discuss the activities and interventions will you utilize in group. Explain how you would incorporate, from a prevention perspective, elements that would help the child cope with crises related to bullying, school transitions, and other developmentally likely situations. Also, explore the child’s developmental level and explain the developmental issues you would like to address in your work with this child.
- Section 4 – Family Counseling (3–4 pages). Use a family systems theory and discuss how you can use this theory in a family session with all family members or guardians present. Plan a meeting with the client’s entire family. Identify the client’s family members. Discuss in detail the rules and boundaries in the family. Do you need to include some parent education models for the parents? If so, which model would you use and how would you introduce it in the session?
Your assignment paper must include a title page, the body of the assignment with the client description and all sections completed thus far, and a reference list. Appendices are optional.
Support your sections with references. Each section should use 2 to 3 new references for a total of at least 15 references for all sections combined.
Submission Requirements
You are required to submit your final version of this paper to Turnitin to generate a final report prior to submitting the assignment for grading. From the Turnitin tool, use the Final report option for the assignment. When your paper is downloaded and viewable in Turnitin, save the originality report. Refer to the Turnitin.com Tutorial: Viewing Originality Reports (linked in the assignment Resources) for guidance.
Submit the following two documents for this assignment:
- Submit your saved Turnitin Originality Report file. The Turnitin originality report must accompany your paper or your assignment will not be graded. Your assignment will be considered late until the report is provided.
- Submit your assignment using the following file naming format: Your Name_Assignment Number_Assignment Title (example: ImaLearner_u08a1_Sections3_4).
