Using the population, intervention, comparison, outcomes, and time (PICOT) format, generate a clinical question for a problem or concern identified in health care. This can be patient specific, facility specific, or provider specific. Work with your preceptor to develop at least two research questions pertaining to your problem including the null hypotheses. Of the two research questions, choose the one that you and your preceptor agree on that will work best for your project.

Prepare a 2- to 3-page paper describing the following:

  • Identify an issue relevant to your clinical setting.
  • Identify the PICOT question and null hypothesis.
  • Describe the background and context of the issue.
  • Describe current evidence-based practice research surrounding the issue.

  • Summarize inherent costs to patients, healthcare organizations, healthcare providers, etc., related to this issue.
  • Summarize the ethical and legal issues surrounding this issue.
