I have to write an admission essay to apply for the Physical Therapy program at my college, it only has to be one page and here are the guidelines:
When writing your essay you need to focus more on the job aspect of it and not talk too much about yourself. If you have anything personal that lead you to want to go into physical therapy such as having to have it yourself you can add that and that’s a good way to start off but don’t make your essay all about you. When I talked to then program people about the essay they told me that the paper should be more about what you can bring to the professon. Not what the profession can do for you and never say anything about job security or money that does not look good to them when reading your essay. You can also talk about what all you have observed when doing your observation hours. (I did 8 observations inpatient hours at Baptist memorial hospital and 8 outpatient observation hours at Memphis Physical Therapy Clinic) And you can also add skills and qualities you have that you can bring to the table. They don’t want to hear about grades or any extracurricular activists you’ve done in high school or college. It strictly needs to be about what you can bring to the profession and anything related to that. Hope that helps!!!
