Discussion Prompt (200-300 words)

• • Thesis (defend, challenge, or qualify): To improve Post-Truth society, should we treat the average person (“the herd”) with a “pathos of distance”?
    • If yes, use Nietzsche’s arguments from the Genealogy of Morals to support your reasoning. Why might this strategy be especially helpful for resolving Post-Truth problems?
    • If not, use critiques from the Week 13b lecture to propose an alternative. Why might this alternative be especially helpful for resolving Post-Truth problems?
  • All responses must analyze one short passage from the “Third Essay” of the Genealogy of Morals. [Cite the section number for the passage–for example, “passage passage passage” (Section 8).]
