This week, we have learned about HIPAA, privacy issues, and the concept of a covered entity. You may face some of these issues as a health care professional. For our discussion this week find a case study that addresses an aspect of HIPAA or FERPA and helps us to better understand the ways in which these laws are applied and the situations that are covered by either.
After finding your case study, research what it means to be a covered entity. In your initial post, outline and defend your position on this issue, using the prompt above. Find one source from the Virtual Library that backs up your ethical position on this case. This source should be from a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal.
Respond to three of your peers with thoughtful replies which add interest and information to the discussion.
