- Per the “Capstone Prompts” below, create a personal moral code that will help you address unequal distributions of power
- Capstone Prompts:
- Instructions:
Write a two (2) to three (3) page essay examining how your thoughts have changed or been reinforced by the learning materials. Your essay will contain:
An introduction paragraph explaining how this class has impacted you overall and how your thoughts have changed or been reinforced.
At least one paragraph on how your thoughts have changed or been reinforced by the overall unequal distributions of power explored in the learning materials. Provide at least one example.
As part of this, identify how your thoughts have changed about the groups that suffer from the unequal distribution of power.
At least one paragraph on how your ethical view (ethical or not) of actual social institutions (government, corporations, organizations, etc.) has changed or been reinforced by the learning materials. Provide at least one example.
- Then, choose a specific moral problem that interests you (e.g., inequality of health care, racial discrimination, the wage gap, etc.), and provide:
your remedy(s) for the moral problem, and
a personal set of moral principles (at least five) that will help you be a part of the solution for this moral problem. Moral principles are used to guide a person’s behavior. Include a brief explanation of why you support each of your moral principles.
- An example of a moral principle for the Rule of Law and Power module might be: “I will fight power inequality wherever and whenever I encounter it,” or “When I see political injustice, I will protest it whenever, and in whatever way, possible.”
The reason(s) you support this principle might be: “If not me, who? If not now, when?” Or, “I have experienced this [moral problem] and want to spare others from having to endure it in the future.”
