Lab Report: Periodic Properties

Tasks:

You will  

• Analyze a periodic trend and write a short report as shown in the lab manual. For example:
  1. Name the trend you examined: i.e. Boiling point trends for transition metals vs. group number (y vs. x)
  2. Define the terms: boiling point and group
  3. Summarize your numerical data in a table and briefly state the trend as best you can.
  4. Graph: Boiling point trends for transition metals vs. group number (y vs. x)
  5. Write a short discussion.
  6. State the references you used as you created your report.
• Begin to investigate an element of your choosing for a presentation later in the semester. 
• Complete the Post Lab Questions.

Criteria for Success:

Be sure to complete all sections of the experiment.  

• As you compile your report:
  • Upload your trend report and to Canvas.
    • Include your Excel file with the data and the graph for your periodic trend. 
    • The biography of an element presentation will be uploaded elsewhere.
  • You should hand-write your Post Lab Questions on the lab manual sheets and upload images of them to Canvas.
    • Make sure you answer 17,  21 (all parts), and 22 (all parts)
    • Trend Report: Definition, Summary, Graph, Discussion, References, and Excel file
