When developing a classroom management plan it is important to remember that everything you do – planning activities, arranging the environment, planning the length of activities, planning how much direction you will provide – is part of the management function. Another important component is managing behavior. When developing a behavior management plan it is important to remember the two basic guidelines; the four C’s (consistency, consideration, confidence, and candor) and CARE (congruent, acceptant, reliable, and empathetic). Other important components might include behavior modification, limit setting, I messages, logical consequences, anticipating behavior, and conflict resolution. Respond to the following discussion question(s) for this forum:
- What motivates children to act as they do?
- How do children learn?
- What behavioral differences have you noticed among children of different cultural backgrounds?
- Respond to at least two other students’ posts.
