Preventative Care Teaching Pamphlet
You will be creating a pamphlet/poster that can be used for patient education.
This pamphlet/poster should incorporate one of three levels of preventative care education. The following describes the three levels of preventative care.
• Primary prevention: Developing strategies to prevent risk factors and unhealthy behaviors (Tobacco use, good nutrition, etc.)
• Secondary prevention: Identifying those with specific risk factors for disease and providing education to prevent the onset of disease or control these risk factors. (Ex. pre-HTN, Prediabetes, hyperlipidemia, etc.)
• Tertiary prevention: Educating the patient on how to manage an illness or disease once it has already occurred, so it does not deteriorate or become worse. (Ex. COPD, CHF, Diabetes, etc.)
