Choose two from readings by Jane Stadler, Lisa Bode or Kendra Marston. You may submit one post on each reading — for a total of 2 posts — or you may submit one combined post that addresses both authors. , whether it is two posts or one combined one.
You may post on any ideas in the readings that strike you in relation to Blade Runner 2049 and/or Black Swan and the lecture. If posting on Stadler, possible topics include: synthespian ethics or the representation of gender roles in posthuman relationships. If writing on Bode, possible topics include: your take on the controversy over Portman’s “digitally recombinant” performance; Hollywood’s history of concealed performance doubles (stunt, dance, or singing doubles); or her critique of the conventional equation of live acting with authenticity while VFX as associated with deception. If posting on Marston, possible topics include: Swan Lake as a framework for multiple stories and genres in the film; the motif of the mirror; or Black Swan’s depiction of gender (esp. the female body) or the racialized binary between the white swan and the black swan.
